Volatility Continues
2025’s theme? Still volatility or maybe just “Ready, Fire, Aim.” May was no exception.
Headlines swirled around tariffs, Fed uncertainty, and a weak Treasury auction. Moody’s downgraded the U.S. credit rating, but markets barely blinked. The VIX ended May at 18.57, still in the “normal” range so despite the noise, we’re not in panic mode.
The 10-Year Treasury is lower than it was in January, and the yield curve has steepened, now about a 50 bps spread between the 2- and 10-Year, suggesting long-term optimism.
Even with headline shocks, capital is still moving. Real estate deal flow is steady.
